[When the feed clicks on, Emily is smiling. She's in her hotel room in Violet city, and she's surrounded by Pokemon. They're still obviously babies, though some are much older. Gallade, her starter, is just sort of hanging in the back watching everything like a silent protector. She's been in Violet City with Blake for a while now, and he hasn't met all of her friends yet, and she's about to fix that! She wants to get the first meeting on camera, too, because it's sure to be awesome. She doesn't realize it's actually a live feed though, she just thinks the camera is recording things. Oops.
Just then, a knock on the door comes.]
Oh, he's here! Alright everyone, be on your best behaviour!
[Emily had said she had something to show him, and sounded excited about it. Blake can't begin to guess what that means. It's a persistent, weird miracle that they get along at all, and that she's okay with him being her de facto guardian. He's not gonna ask too many questions.]
[Blake opens the door] Hey Emily-
[And is met by more than a dozen pairs of eyes fixed on him. Every surface in the room is covered in animals.]
Holy hell.
[Despite Emily's command to behave themselves, instantly all of her Pokemon except for Corvo rush at him once the door is closed behind him. He doesn't have long to stare at them before he's bum rushed by all of them. He has Pokemon all over him a second later. Eevee, Tympole, Ekans, Weedle, Taillow, Ponyta and several others are all fighting for his attention. Weedle shoots a stringshot at him and pulls itself onto Blake's shoulder. Taillow flies onto Blake's head and begins nesting there. Others paw and nuzzle into him.]
Oh look, they want to be your friend, Mr. Lieutenant Blake!
[That is a stampede of adorable little bastards headed straight for him.]
[There's birds and furry things and something like a deranged tadpole, and one of those fire horses is headbutting his knee and he doesn't even know how his pants aren't on fire. When he feels something sticky on his shoulder he nearly smacks it. You do not swat a little girl's pet, even if it is a giant fucking earthworm]
[There is a bird on his head. There is a bird on his head.]
[There's no suppressing the instinct to flail around.]
Get off me!
[Emily can't help but giggle at his reaction. Honestly he's lucky that her Onix is confined outside right now, otherwise it would probably be joining the party, too! And that would not bode well for anyone, least of all Blake. And she's also pretty sure that he won't actually hurt any of them, so his flailing doesn't bother her too much.
She goes to pick up the camera so she can get a better shot, and then she pauses when she notices something. 'Live'. Which... means she's broadcasting this whole thing to everyone.]
...Oops.
[Tiny and adorable is bad enough without throwing in a hug from a snake made of rocks.]
[There's a tadpole flopping at his feet and a worm-thing draping around his neck like the world's worst idea of a feather boa, while he tries to shake the bird off his arm. All it does is flap and tweet. How can little bird toes be that strong?]
Oops what?
[He looks up and sees the little red light on the camera. He freezes, hand still wrapped around the purple snake he was trying to pry off his waist]
Aw hell.
[Emily goes to shut off the video just as there's a slight rumble and an Onix peeks its head in the window to see what's going on. The feed cuts off just before Cubone decides to throw it's bone at Blake's head to get his attention.]

Mar. 4th, 2013 05:40 am[It's around eleven or so at night when this message goes onto the network, about an hour later than Emily is used to staying up. It's her first night having left New Bark Town for the first time, and she isn't used to traveling or being alone outside. It's... honestly scary. But when she goes onto the network, she's trying her hardest to sound calm.]
Is anyone else awake? I can't sleep. I finally left New Bark Town. Traveling is fun! A lot more fun than I could ever have imagined. Everything is just so exciting and there is so much to see!
[But now it's night time, and everything is catching up to her and it's dark and scary and weh.]
I haven't ever slept outside before. There are so many noises... I keep thinking- [That her kidnappers are going to find her again] how exciting it will be to make it to the next town.
Does anyone want to talk for a while, maybe? Even if it is late?

[The keysmashing is Emily trying to actually switch on a voice option, and after a few seconds, you can hear her murmuring in frustration with the device, before she finally realizes that it's recording.]
Oh! There. Alright. I've never seen anything like this before, so it's a little new to me. Um... Hi. My name is Emily. I don't know if anyone can hear me, but like I said, I was told I could use this to talk to people. If that is true, can anyone tell me what's going on? There was this woman claiming to be my mother, but...
[She trails off, growing quiet for a few moments, her voice sounding sad as she does so.]
But that isn't possible. Anyway, does anyone know how I got here? I was... at this place, called the Golden Cat. There were women there... It was strange. But then I ended up here, and I'm not sure how! But I guess that this is a lot better than being there, honestly. It's just a little confusing.
I know it might be a stretch, but has anyone seen a man named Corvo? And I guess... more importantly, can someone tell me what I'm supposed to do? I don't really know where to go. I've never been on my own like this before. Not that I can't handle myself! I can. But... some advice would still be nice, please.
[And with that, she fumbles around with it, trying to get the feed to actually turn off. Briefly, she accidentally switches it to video, and you get the image of a rather scared looking 10 year old girl, before she finally manages to get it shut off. It looks like someone isn't as brave as they're trying to make themselves out to be.]

Timeline: Just before Corvo rescues her at the Golden Cat.

http://dishonored.wikia.com/wiki/Emily_Kaldwin
Personality: Emily, at first glance, is very much like your average ten year old. She is excitable, playful, enthusiastic and loves to play and get up to things that her mother would probably disapprove of (such as getting Corvo to teach her fighting techniques). Emily also really enjoys drawing, and can be seen drawing just about every time you see her and is becoming rather good at it, though it still has a child-like quality to it. As heir to the empress, she is also expected to learn about history, geography and the like- however, studying is really not something that Emily is interested in. At least not when it comes to the fields of study that she is expected to study as heir to the throne. She would much rather learn about sword fighting and adventuring and monsters instead of all of the boring things that she's being taught. This is a big reason she latches onto Corvo like she does, because she finds him interesting because he goes out and does things. Over the course of the game, no matter what path Corvo takes, she grows very attached to Corvo and comes to see him like a father.
Behind Emily's fun loving and innocence is a girl who is a lot more mature than someone her age. It might be because she saw her mother get stabbed and then kidnapped, but when she was kidnapped, she kept calm and optimistic through it all. She never lost her spirit and she never stopped believing that Corvo would eventually come for her. She also held on to the childish, naive hope that maybe he mother had somehow survived the stabbing, though when told otherwise, she didn't seem too upset by it, suggesting that she'd had time to mourn and recover as best she could before she was rescued in the six months that it took Corvo to finally find her. She didn't pull through it completely emotionally unharmed, though; she tends to have nightmares when she goes to sleep and it's clear they're pretty scary ones and likely about being kidnapped. However, despite that, she still manages to stay pretty happy so long as Corvo keeps things as unchaotic as possible.
Which leads to the next part about her. Because of the fact that the game has a sort of 'choose your path' option, this directly effects Emily. It's said that even though she may appear to not see what's going, she sees a lot more than she lets on. This means that Corvo's actions really influence her a great deal. If Corvo goes the route involving the least amount of chaos, it really effects Emily's personality in a very positive manner. She becomes happier and more positive, draws cheerful pictures, and becomes more eager to become Empress so that she can fix the wrongs that have been done- which she does, and goes on to really help the world and get rid of the plague on the city. If Corvo takes a high chaos route (killing people as opposed to non-lethal methods) then Emily will become influenced by this, taking on a darker edge, being described as creepy and violent when Corvo isn't around and her drawings are dark and disturbing. In this path, Emily goes on to rule with a ruthless iron fisted dictatorship.
With Emily taken from the canon point that she's being taken from, she's at her most neutral and has no impression one way or the other aside from her base personality of being a carefree kid (though just with the trauma of being kidnapped). This means that she'll be more free to follow her own path, uninfluenced by Corvo's actions and those that would wish to manipulate her. This means that being in the game would give her a free slate to become her own person and make her own decisions.
All in all, Emily is very much a kid. She gets up to things she shouldn't, loves to play and draw and goof around even when she should be studying, and is just overall a very carefree child when she isn't being kidnapped or manipulated. She isn't all fun and games either all of the time- considering she's heir to the throne, she's been taught when and how to be polite when she needs to be. She just prefers to have fun instead! Because being responsible is boring. Almost as boring as geography.
Strengths/Weaknesses: As heir to the throne, Emily has been schooled privately and kept away from people her own age. Despite the fact that she's well educated because of this, she's a bit more naive and sheltered than most people her age. This works both for and against her, because on one hand, it lends itself well to curiosity and socialization. On the other hand, it also means that it could be easy for her to get in over her head and get in trouble.
Emily is also pretty impressionable, at the age where things she sees influences her more than they should. This is also both good and bad, because it can be used to take advantage of her, though the biggest influential part of her life is Corvo. She did a good job resisting the manipulations of those who kidnapped her to use her position as heir to the throne for their benefit. However, that doesn't change the fact she is capable of being influenced by what happens around her, as Corvo's actions really do have an effect on her.
She's becoming very talented at drawing, as she draws quite often.
Emily is pretty intelligent, too, in the sense that she's well educated for someone her age. Despite the fact she finds studying boring, she's still been made to study and it's all stuck with her well enough, though she's still young and has a lot to learn.
She has a youthful optimism that only children can have, which is a big reason she managed to get through her kidnapping as unscathed as she possibly could. It was her belief in Corvo that helped her through it the most.

The reason is that in canon, you play the protagonist named Corvo, the Lord Protector to the Empress. Corvo has a very close bond to Emily and after she's kidnapped, it's his job to rescue her and keep her safe from those who wish to do her harm and keep her from ascending to the throne. He also prevents them from manipulating her. Ralts and it's evolutions are known for being protective, and I think it would simulate Corvo and his protectiveness to Emily well and would help her feel safer about being in Johto, rather than the alternative which would be that she would be more withdrawn.

Third Person Sample: Emily was scared, to put it lightly. How could she not be? Any ten year old in their right mind would be if they were in her situation. In six months time, she had been through more than adults go through in their lifetime. She'd seen her mother get killed in front of her, been kidnapped from the only life she had ever known, seen things that no ten year old should ever see, and then she had ended up in Johto. Her entire life had been flipped upside down, and it was a wonder she was still sane.
But she was, and despite being scared, she even found herself to be rather... excited. As scary as it was, there was no denying that it was thrilling. For once, she wasn't stuck in the Golden Cat anymore. That alone was worth celebrating, because that place... It was weird. She didn't like it at all, and she was definitely glad to be away from it. And then there was the fact that she was told to go on an adventure with her new- Pokémon. She wasn't entirely sure what it was supposed to be, but it definitely was an interesting creature! She'd never seen anything like it before. There were always stories of dangerous monsters, but she'd never really seen one! Though she was sure this wasn't really what the stories meant... And to be honest, it didn't seem all that dangerous to her.
In fact, it seemed really nice- and in a weird way, it reminded her of Corvo even though it was tiny and green... and generally very different. But something about it's demeanor and overall aura reminded her about Corvo, and it was actually very comforting. She felt safe with the little thing around- Ralts, she thought it was called? She was starting to think that no matter what it was called, she would call it Corvo. She could do that, right? It was like a pet. You name your pets, don't you? Maybe she should ask it...
"Um... Hi," she said, squatting down she that she could look at the thing at it's own level. It looked at her quietly, if a little curiously, but didn't say anything. Either way, it was obvious that it was listening. "I was wondering if it would be okay if I gave you a new name." There wasn't a reply for a few seconds, before the Ralts gave her a nod. "Really? Awesome! Then... your new name is Corvo."
Ralts nodded a little more enthusiastically, as if if really approved of this new nickname. "You're a really cool creature, you know..." she said with a small smile, staring at the Ralts, and after a moment she got a distant look in her eye. "Oh, one more thing... If it's alright." She hesitated, before bending down and pulling Ralts into a hug.
She could almost pretend like she was actually hugging Corvo.
